Beginner Quilting

Been wanting to learn how to make a quilt? Well now you can learn in a class geared to the new quilter, or someone returning to quilting after a few years. Learn to use the new tools-of-the-trade, and leave with a love of quilting, and a beautiful quilt. Check out the sample in the shop. Six week class. Minimum of 5 students.

You can choose between the nautical wall hanging (lighthouse, boat, mariners' compass), or the large mariners' compass wall hanging and learn the precise art of paper piecing. Use up some of your scraps, and have fun doing it! Minimum of 4 students.

Machine Quilting 1 class

Take the mystique out of machine quilting, once and for all. Come spend a day learning the correct way to quilt with a walking foot, and free-motion quilting. We will deal with the sewing machine setup, tension issues, needles, thread, posture, and the mechanics of quilting. Must have an open-toe darning foot and walking foot.

Quilt as you go 3 classes

Have you ever wanted to make a quilt but the size of the quilt was too much to handle? With this method you make and quilt each block (either appliqued, pieced or focus fabric block.) You may do free motion quilted blocks only if you have taken the machine quilting class or are confident and satisfied with the results. You then assemble it and finish off the seams and it's done! Machine quilting will not be taught in this class.

Spend one day with a group of quilt friends and leave with a finished log cabin quilt top. This is a fun process with emphasis on rotary cutting and strip piecing. This is a great class for someone returning to quilting after a few years. Minimum of 5 students.
